I would like our Mission Statement documents to have the same preliminary focus and consistency as the focus of Jesus in his first recorded words in the Gospel: “ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the Gospel”. (Mark 1, 14-15).
Jesus said to them: ”I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also,
because for this purpose I have been sent”. (Luke 4, 43).
Pope Paul VI wrote in his Encyclical Evangelii Nuntiandi (1975) n.8:
”As an evangelizer Christ first of all proclaims a kingdom, the kingdom of God, and this is so important that, by comparison, everything else becomes “the rest”, which is ”given in addition”.
