Dear RMU Leaders & GA Participants,
Advent greetings from Hong Kong !
Earlier this year, the JMU members elected Leo Schumacher to be its delegate to GA 2024.
Then, last month, Leo was appointed JMU Coordinator.
Given this recent development, according to our Constitutions, Leo has become an ex-officio member of GA 2024 (C.310). Moreover, since the JMU has 10 electors, it retains the right to elect another member as its delegate to GA 2024 (C.311.3).
C.310 Members of the General Assembly are either “ex officio” or elected delegates. “Ex officio” members are the Superior General, all members of the Superior General’s Council, Regional Directors and Mission Unit Coordinators whose Mission Units have ten or more electors. Elected delegates are chosen as determined by the Society Directory.
C. 311.3 All permanent and temporary members of the Society may vote for the delegates to the General Assembly, except “ex officio” members of the Assembly, diocesan Bishops and their equivalent in law (Can. 381 §2) and members covered by Cc.228-229.
In light of the above, I wish to inform you that Nguyen Xuan Tien has been elected by the JMU as its delegate to GA 2024.
Please find the updated list of participants for GA 2024 here.
Fraternally,
Tim
